National Re-Settlement Project for Afghan Displaced

Aliceghan project was closed in December 2009, where all components, except water supply, were completed. The water supply component faced delays due to the land dispute on the concerned area. Upon closure, the Aliceghan project was formally hand over to Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) as a government entity responsible for the maintenance and sustainable support of the Aliceghan community.

In March 2010, MoRR communicated to UNDP that the issue of land dispute was resolved, and UNDP could move ahead with the completion of the water supply component. UNDP would implement the water supply component under the title of National Resettlement Project for Afghan Displaced (NRPAD). Although this was initially envisaged to be a broad national programme, however, due to security situation and assessment of criticality of the projects, the broader vision for National Resettlement Project for Afghan Displaced (NRPAD) could not be launched, while it was agreed that the water supply component should proceed for implementation. An AWP is prepared and approved by UNDP as well as by MoRR for this purpose.
